Bob,
You are going down the right path...entropy is
the "package" that I use and I think that most
folks use. It took me awhile to figure out that
php has many versions and and distribution
points. entropy s the best for Mac users.
Regarding Os X Server (and I think that I post on
this a couple months back), Entropy installs PHP
in a different location than where PHP 4 is now.
Best to follow the instructions on th Entropy web
page. Be sure to turn off PHP 4 in Apache, as
described in the instructions. Otherwise, Apache
will not start. Been there, done that.
If you have an extra machine, you might want to
practice on that to get a feel for what happens.
BTW, Apache comes in just the flavors, 1.3 and
2.0. Most folks are using 1.3. Did jaguar go
with 2.0? Don't know.
The differences:
- Short tags
- Errors /Notices are on by default.
Makes for very interesting screens if you have
Notices.
That's my 2¢.
