Sorry to be late on this, but you¹re safe to ignore Germund, Bob.
Occasionally his answers are useful, but they¹re mostly cryptic,
poorly-phrased attempts at big-noting himself. Sorry, but someone had to say
it.

Anyway, we use the image_proxy technique with images stored in the database
as a matter of course, and as far as I know no one has suffered any
permanent injury because of it. We do this because the people publishing
material do it by directly accessing the FileMaker database concerned. Some
of them still struggle to get this right, so asking them to log on to a
server, put an image in a specific folder, then log on to FM and insert that
image by reference would be completely unworkable. So yes, there is a valid
use-case for that approach (images in the database), and we¹re happy enough
with the performance it gives. Optimal? No. Pragmatic? Yes, and a superior
solution because of it. Check out the link in my sig for examples.

Glad you got it sorted Bob, as it can be tricky to get to work the first
time round.
