[FX.php List] [Off-Topic] CDML/Web Server Connector consistently crashing

Hi Folks,

Sorry for the off-topic question, but it *is*related to web 
publishing, and the end result my be a re-write in fx.php.

A client is running FileMaker 5.5 Unlimited on Windows.  They serve 
up web pages using cdml from the 16 files in the solution.  The 5.5UL 
also serves a handful of local users in the office...even though they 
own FMP server which sits in a drawer, uninstalled (!).

The problems started when the solution crashed months ago, due to a 
hardware failure.  Ever since then, the previously stable solution 
crashes a couple of times a day.  I don't have the exact error yet, 
but it is reported that the java applet (?) is the problem according 
to the log. Another interesting fact..5.5UL is version 1, right off 
the cd, and not the updated version.

These folks weren't aware of the proper way to treat damaged files. 
Upon examination with metadatamagic,  it revealed that half the files 
had been Recovered, a few more than 20 times(!).

So, as you can see there is plenty of room for eliminating potential 
sources of problem:
	- Restore the solution using files that have not been recovered.
	- Update the 5.5UL client to current version, plus the Web Connector
	- Install Server

   That being said, is there any really obvious issue with the Web 
Connector? The client is guessing that the crashes are tied to web 
activity, although it is just a guess.
