Carmen,
This sounds to me like the mysterious related field issue. That is,
if there are related fields present on the layout that you're
accessing, put them in a one row portal. Otherwise, if no related
record is present the data returned will be truncated. HTH
On a related note, I noticed some discussion of this in relation to
Jason's recent wrestle with a 105 error. Although the latest
releases of FileMaker Server Advanced are supposed to fix this bug,
I've seen it still arise, though very inconsistently (i.e. on some
servers, but not others.) In short, I still consider the portal work-
around a valid way to rule out errors.
