In development of a solution that will need to send email from a part  
of the database that will be online.

I am looking at what others do in this regards. Currently I can send  
email from FileMaker with the use of a plug-in.

But if a plug-in has a progress dialog it will not be a web  
compatible function and so not run in a web environment. I know that  
it is also possible to have this plug-in not show the progress  
dialog... and simply by not showing the progress dialog does that  
make it so that it is web compatible?

Does FMPHP offer some of this capability built right into it... and  
all that one needs to do is specify the mail server they are using. I  
guess that would be an option.

What are others using to be able to send mail out in their web  
solutions?
