[FX.php List] [OFF] Updating PHP?

I would concur - only upgrade if you need something, which may be a security fix, however I wouldn't ordinarily expect to need to another full release (5.5 as opposed to 5.4.x) to resolve a security issue.

One of the risks of moving to a new version is deprecation of functions/functionality (and we all remember the v11 API and it's screens-full of deprecation warnings), so unless you've got really good regression tests in place, or the site is small enough to be able to ensure you've tested every piece of functionality there's a risk that something may break without you being aware of it…
