Any way round which…?

Take a look at the database definition for the table which layout XML_Items is a layout for and see if you can spot any fields which have 'By Calculation' in the options/Comments list. Take a look at those fields and determine why the update which you're attempting to make would be failing whatever validation conditions are enforced by the calculation in question…
