[FX.php List] FMP API to mySQL

I need a push in the right direction...

I have an FMP API solution that needs to be converted to mySQL.

I don't have much experience in mySQL.

For this reason, should I consider converting to fx.php and then use  
fx.php to handle the interaction with mySQL?  Or do I misundertand the  
fx.php to mySQL feature?
