Here's a question...

Anyone know about the impact of valid but unused File references?

It always seems that I have file references that might have been 
retired from use, but the file are still online and valid.

Does merely having a file reference significantly impact performance 
in the same way the invaid file references do?  Key word is 
"significantly"
