[FX.php List] Restarting PHP on Mac

I've been doing some testing of changing some of the settings in the php.ini file, but the settings don't seem to take effect unless I restart the machine. It's PHP 5.1.2 installed on a Mac mini (Intel), and the php.ini file is this path:

/Library/FileMaker Server/Web Publishing/publishing-engine/php/lib/php.ini

Is there some command or procedure to get PHP to check the php.ini file again without restarting the whole machine?
