sorry for the delay in getting back.

Many thanks indeed for your prompt reply - it was indeed the line
$recordPointers = explode('.',$key); that I was missing.

Wonderful, and also - your email opened up an area of understanding
for me - the fact that there is a sub-array etc was very enlightening.
