Hi all,
I ran into a strange problem today perhaps someone has come across this
before. I have a web accessible file that is presenting data from its own
tables and from tables through external file references. The set up is a
layout with several portal views into the local tables and the ones through
the file references. I added a new portal for some external data and
expected it to show up in the web returned FMPXMLRESULT. To my surprise no
data. Looking at the returned xml blank entries are appearing equal in
number to the expected number of fields from the new portal, See example
below.
<FIELD EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT="1" NAME="RFQverview::xSpec_Revision" TYPE="
TEXT" />
<FIELD EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT="1" NAME="RFQverview::DescriptionCalc" TYPE
="TEXT" />
<FIELD EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT="1" NAME="" TYPE="" />
<FIELD EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT="1" NAME="" TYPE="" />
Thinking this may be occurring on external files only I added a portal from
another file reference. The data appeared as expected. One more test New
test file, one table, one field, one record and attempted to display a new
portal, again no data in the XMLRESULT just a blank.
The strange thing is the XML knows each time something was added to the
layout. It appears that it just can't display what it is or what it
contains. I must be missing something. I'm hunting through the security
settings mow to see if I can locate the difference in the
working/non-working external file reference. If anyone else has
experienced this I'd love to hear from you.
Best regards
Gerry Charest
