I used to use ccAuthorize, a plugin, to send data to Verisign; in  
fact, I have one client who still uses it in FileMaker 6 and CDML.  
With the plugin, I'd write to the database, then send the card # and  
so on via the plugin. It's not available for FM 8.5 on the Mac  
though, and I actually prefer not using a plugin these days anyway,  
because it means firing a script. Without it, using PHP and simple  
form POSTs, I think it's probably more reliable in the long run.
