[FX.php List] Query for Last Record Created of a Found Set

I¹m  developing an application that needs to pass the field values from the
last record created in a found set to a form.  Is there a way with fx and
php  to identify the last record created in a found set?  The found count
will vary from query to query.

Sof far I¹ve thought about creating a portal and using the
Get(PortalRowNumber) function, but then you have the issue of making sure
the records are sorted so the last record is always in the first row.  Is
there a better solution?
