I'm guessing you've tried a number of things.  Have you entered an IP into the Host input in gif2?  (incl. 127.0.0.1?)

And if you just point your FX solution to the IP of the FMS machine and load the site in a browser, what kind of error(s) do you get?

Sorry, grasping at straws.  It's been a while for me too.
