[FX.php List] [OFF] Solution for occasional outage....Redux

At our company, our IT staff (not myself) have set up all of our
separate servers, both physical & virtual, including our FileMaker 9
server, Web server, Exchange server, etc. on a program called
Double-Take. We have redundant servers located in a co-location facility
in an entirely different city that are kept synchronized at all times
and in real-time by Double-Take.

In the event of a failure, the system switches to the redundant
location, with no loss of services or data. It has kicked in a few times
and it does, surprisingly, seem to work. Everything switches; DNS,
servers, etc.

I wasn't involved in it's setup, but I doubt it was trivial. I also
believe it's a Windows-only solution. I was doubtful that a real-time
synchronization program would work on live FileMaker databases, but it
does seem to do exactly this.

We're not a huge company (50 employees, 2 IT staff), but it was a
solution that was within our capabilities. YMMV.

Hi Folks,

... Does anyone have redundant servers at a different location?
I'm willing to consider this route, but the expense seems very high
for a load balancing type of set up.

I could use some seasoned advice.

Thanks.

Jonathan
