[FX.php List] Sub-summaries?

I was thinking.

How would inline sub-summaries/breaks  be added to standard foreach 
() fx.php record listing...just like FMP does?

I suppose that I could have a foreach, have a variable that watches 
the value of subsummary field. When the field changes, insert line 
break. I guess that I could also use another variable that would be 
accumulating a running subtotal which would be printed at the break.

Is anyone doing this?
