[FX.php List] FileMaker question, not FX, but...

I'm sure this is simple...

I'm trying to use SUBSTITUTE to strip out punctuation from a field;  
however, it won't strip single quotes. I seem to recall something  
using a backslash or some such... a search on FMI's site turned up nada.

Thanks for any advice...
