[FX.php List] NEW FMPHP API

Dave,

Head on over and listen to the related podcast on FileMaker's site.
The reason I bring this up is that Kevin Nathanson of FileMaker says,
in essence, if you have code that's working under FX.php, there's no
reason to rewrite it. In short, FMI's official take is that the two
tools coexist just fine -- even on the same server. In addition, the
next version of FX.php will include a new tool that will work with
BOTH FX.php and the FileMaker API for PHP.

That said, I'd encourage folks to try both out. Right now the API
has some built in validation support (as Stephen mentioned) as well
as better support for portals than FX.php. On the other hand,
because of it's structure, some things you may do may require
slightly more complex code. However, both tools are PHP tools =).
So what you learn about PHP while working with one, is fully
transferrable to the other. As I've stated in the past, 99% of what
you do with PHP is related to manipulating and displaying data as
opposed to retrieving it.
